The Barber of Seville is considered by both the public and critics to be one of the peaks of Rossini’s comic art and of all comic opera. Its success lies in the exceptionally high musical quality of the opera, but also in the excellent level of the original text by Beaumarchais, which the libretto by Sterbini—something rare for the time—keeps substantially intact. Gioachino Rossini’s masterpiece will be presented by the Cartagena Festival in concert form, featuring a selection of pieces/arias chosen to delight the audience. This event adds to the commemoration of the 160 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Colombia, conducted with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Colombia and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
